Chota : What is Chota Spyware?

Chota is a key logger that records every keyboard press. However, it is apt to record upper-case logs, meaning that anything the computer types in upper-case would be recorded by the spyware in a file. The record is kept in a file that can be viewed by WordPad or as an HTML file. Chota is not from the kind of spyware that installs itself, in other words, it does not operate every time the computer is rebooted.

This spyware can disrupt your computer behavior, for instance, you web browser settings can be changed. Chota spyware is created by Junkcode in December 2002. The fact that it can record upper-case logs only makes it inapt to detect any passwords. It poses a security threat of 6.5 on a scale of 10.

In order to remove Chota spyware from your computer you will have to make sure you remove all the directories, files and key registry related to it. The files you will have to get rid of are: chota.exe, info.txt, chota.exe. Then open windows explorer and delete the following directory: C: \ Program Files \ Chota. Then, Start> Run> regedit.exe when you run regedit.exe delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Chota.

In order to assure yourself that your computer is free of the spyware Chota you can always search online and you will find a plethora of Chota finders and removers. However, do not rely on the removing software alone; always resort to the manual removing method because removal software can be manipulated by the updates of the spyware.
