ANY@WEB Review: What Is ANY@WEB Spyware?

ANY@WEB is a moderately dangerous spyware, which acts as a commercial monitoring software with a danger rating of 6.5 on 10 which means that it is capable of logging activity and difficult to remove.

Programs of this sort are usually meant for monitoring the activity of the user. They are not always installed with the user’s consent. Since they are commercially available, detecting their presence via ordinary anti-virus software isn’t all that easy. The most common form of such commercial monitoring software is in the form of a keystroke logger which logs activity of keystrokes of the keyboard and sends it back to the owner of the software. Often screenshots and even videos can be send back through outbound connections.

As per the providers of this spyware, Any@Web is a powerful software specifically designed to monitor, record and restrict Internet activities in the network. It records any web pages viewed, files uploaded & downloaded and emails sent and received through any computers in the network. It can also restrict internet access of specified computers based on the rules set by user to prevent leakage of sensitive data or abuse of Internet access.

Protection against this spyware is possible by controlling usage of instant messengers and peer to peer services, blocking spyware and other malware, web filtering and Unified Security Gateway.

Since ANY@WEB is not that common a tool, finding means to remove it from the computer might not all that easy, it would be best to maintain distance from this spyware. However reformatting the machine should fix the problem or maybe even repairing the OS or installing the latest service packs might do!
