Activity Logger : What is Activity Logger Software?

Activity Logger (which also goes by the name of Spyware.ActivityLog) is a spyware, which you should remove from your computer as soon as possible. It is a malware, which monitors computer keystrokes, takes screenshots of the infected computer, garners user activity and sends the information back to the spy who is using it.

The threat of Activity Logger is lesser as it can be transmitted only via manual installation. However, since confidential information such as passwords, bank account and credit card number are also monitored; it could result in heavy losses to the infected user. It is therefore advised to remove this security threat.

Removal of Activity Logger requires that you do the following:
1. Update virus definitions of your antivirus and antispyware software.
2. Run antispyware and antivirus scans (preferably in Safe Mode) in order to detect and eliminate any threats found.
3. Using Windows Explorer (in Safe Mode), delete the following directories. ProgramFiles\Activity Logger\Templates
ProgramFiles\Activity Logger\Logs
ProgramFiles\Activity Logger
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lgr
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AL
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\ActivityLogger
4. Edit the registry: To do this you must first run “regedit” using the Start>Run option. Once it has opened browse to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
And delete the value in the right hand pane which says:
“AISys” = “C:\Program Files\Activity Logger\alsys.exe”
Then navigate to and delete the subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SoftActivity

Finally navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Winodws\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
and delete the subkey:
“{F166CABE-0F32-4BE8-95BD-3E540C21A5DD}_is1″

This process will effectively remove the malware from your system. Note that it is better to change your passwords and other confidential information after the cleaning process to be on safer side.
